0had pearson at 3, collins at 5 and craig at 6. Got Craig. He’s an overscout but a high 90s SL overscout. Got a Strothers replacement in Paul Short in the 2nd.
I had Carney at 1, Brandon Vega at 2, and Sampson at 3. Glad Vega didn’t fall. =] Calderon at 8.

Its odd, I kind of don’t really care what’s happening to Albert. Let’s talk about a true St. Louis legend that we all wish would return to the team.Ankiel (leg) played center field and hit a home run in the first game of his rehab assignment Friday, the Washington Post reports.
Gibson, Musial, Brock…Ankiel? one of the 4 dont belong in this group. Dont get me wrong, I like Ankiel and wish he could of put it all togather as a pitcher, suposidly he had the best curveball since Sandy Koufax but I dont use the termonolgy "St. Louis Legand" lightly. Albert would of been one, matter of fact he still is the second greatist hitter to ever dawn the Cardinal uniform, and the only reason he was close to Stans number after only 11 years was because Stan gave up 4 years to serve his country. I wish ank. well, but as for me I certinally dont consider him a legand of the franchise

0I love having Berkman on this club. He has made ALL the difference between now and 2 years ago when the team was basically like going to Temple or Mass.

The bats came out in support of Powell (also a #2 pick that should have gone #1) at 6pm to get him a 7-1 victory against the New England Smooth Talkers for win #355 and sole possession of 2nd place. My daily Powell updates will now cease. Once Jackson gets a little closer to home run #700, he might get them. Though he’s been stuck at 9 for almost a month now. I think he forgot how to hit for power.
In my defense, picking of Kemp over Powell made sense to me. That was my very first draft, I had NO idea what I was doing. The more money they were going to command, the better I assumed they’d be. I already had Kelvin sitting atop my rotation and had a historically bad offense. Kemp had a really good career. Not HOF good, but above average. I can’t say I haven’t thought about the historically vicious 1-2 punch I would have had I paired Kelvin and Powell together. *shivers*
I use ignorance as my excuse for dealing Carney as well.

0Yeah if me and my friend lived near Anaheim we would be taking in a Yankees series every year for sure. I know I WILL be watching that Dodgers opening day this week!

I used to have my rankings saved but recently cleared them out except for the last 10 years or so. Not sure why he was drafted ahead of Carney. But he was a pretty big bust for a top pick.
You can go back in the game and see how you ranked the draft.
I had Calderon at #14. Carney at #3. Had Angel Sampson at #1.
There were 5 or 6 quality defensive shortstops in that draft. We’d love one that deep these days, I think. Instead we get 1, maybe 2 if we’re lucky, and usually they have no offensive skill when they are a quality defender.

0derrick, I know what you mean. Take pictures of the Dodger 50th home opener and espically prices. I thought surely Angel games where you were would be $60 bucks and beer $10 knowing the price hike you pay for the "privalege" of living in California, and with tickets that cheap to Angel stadium if I were you I’d be going back later in the season but hey thats me.
